This stunning pair of grand bookcases have been fully restored to their original glory.
The province of the bookcases – they were commissioned by the Potters’ Club in Stoke-on-Trent, this venue held numerous royal visits to Stoke-on-Trent. The Potters’ Club was established by the British Pottery Manufacturers Federation to serve the needs of the thriving ceramics industry.
The decorative shaped top has carved scroll details and a central finial. The glazed doors below open to reveal nine adjustable and removable shelves. The doors are all lockable. The base section has a central secretaire with leathered desk and numerous small drawers, this is flanked by four drawers, each drawer has a swan neck drop brass handle. Below are four doors which open to reveal adjustable and removable shelves. Each bookcase stands on a platform plinth base. The bookcases are made in a rich walnut with a striking flame grain across the doors and drawers. String inlay decoration adorns the bookcases.
